Much has changed in the last three years in the fibers used to produce fishing nets. Today, trawl makers and fisherman are seeking stronger materials so that smaller diameters can be used to lower the cost of fuel and allow efficient bigger trawls to be built but, still enable easy towing of one or more trawls. The technique of extruding new fibers is continually improving and there will come a day when a fiber can be tailor made for any particular application. In the fibers available today for the production of fishing nets, there is a big gap between the stronger ones and the next available both in tenacity and price. The following list shows the most popular current materials: EUROLINE® PREMIUM "PLUS" FILLS THE GAP
Clearly
there is a big difference in breaking strength (grams per denier)
between Dyneema, Spectra, and the other products, Euroline® premium
being the next strongest. Of course there is always a tremendous
difference in the price, which often frustrates the fishermen in
trying to justify the significantly higher cost of trawls built
from Dyneema or Spectra. Taking this into consideration, the R&D
Division of the Lankhorst/Euronete Group together with a polymer
producer have developed a new fiber called
Euroline® Premium "PLUS".
This new fiber will decrease the gap between the Dyneema and Spectra
products and the ones below. The specification of this new fiber is: EUROLINE® PREMIUM "PLUS"
YOU CAN BUILD MORE EFFICIENT TRAWLS
Euronete pledges to continue this goal as a world leader in the
manufacture of netting. Euroline®
Premium "PLUS" will provide the desired
characteristics for improving trawls:
